Description
The DT 1990 PRO is beyerdynamic’s open-back reference headphone for engineers who need to hear exactly what’s happening in a mix. Handcrafted in Germany, it pairs a 250-ohm, 45mm dynamic Tesla neodymium driver with an open-back circumaural design that delivers a wide, natural stereo image rather than a boxed-in sound.
Sound quality is the headline here: titanium-coated acoustic fabric and precision-woven textiles work alongside the Tesla driver to produce detailed highs, a clear midrange, and controlled bass — the kind of resolution that makes small mix issues easy to spot. Two included sets of velour ear pads let you switch between an analytical voicing and a more balanced one, depending on the task at hand.
Comfort matters during long sessions, and the DT 1990 PRO uses memory foam-filled pads and premium textiles on the headband and ear cups so the weight disappears after a while. Build quality follows the same standard, with anodised aluminium yokes and a single-sided, detachable mini-XLR cable design.
