Description
The Sennheiser HD 820 solves the classic tradeoff between closed-back isolation and open-back sound quality. Instead of trapping reflections inside sealed earcups, Sennheiser fitted concave Gorilla Glass reflectors that redirect driver energy outward into a purpose-built acoustic absorber, cancelling internal resonance before it colors the sound. The result is a closed headphone that behaves like an open one — spacious, clean, and free of the boxy distortion typical of sealed designs.
Driving that sound are 56mm ring radiator transducers, mounted at both inner and outer edges directly to the driver housing for a rigid, stable platform. Each individual HD 820 unit ships with its own serial-numbered frequency response plot, a nod to the precision involved in its build. Every pair is designed in Germany and hand-assembled at Sennheiser’s Ireland facility.
Comfort matches the engineering: an adjustable metal headband and microfiber-padded earcups keep long sessions fatigue-free, while flexibility in connectivity comes via XLR-4, 1/4-inch, or 4.4mm jack options.
