The outer jacket is a durable rubber covering, further reinforced with a modern shrink-wrap sleeve at both ends. That sleeve is key: it keeps the jacket from separating right where cables typically fail first — the termination points. Underneath, the solder connections are done to a high standard and then encased in a thick ABS inner sleeve, adding another layer of protection against strain and wear.
