The DW Control Beater was engineered right alongside the MDD Direct Drive Pedal, giving drummers a way to fine-tune both tone and feel at the footboard. Rather than locking you into one sound, it ships with three interchangeable striking surfaces: a hard flat felt for full-contact attack, a spherical felt for a smaller, rounded contact point, and a flat plastic head for a brighter, more defined click.
Weight and throw are just as adjustable as tone. The beater uses removable brass weights to shift forward momentum in five distinct increments, so you can dial in anywhere from a lighter, faster response to a heavier, more powerful strike. A self-leveling head keeps the beater squared up against the drum head on every hit, automatically correcting its angle so contact stays flat and consistent no matter how you’re playing.
