Description

The Evans Hydraulic Black 14″ drum head uses a thin layer of oil sandwiched between two plies of film, giving the head extra durability along with the fat, deep, short-decay tone that defined early ’70s rock drumming. That oil layer naturally dampens overtones, so you get a focused sound without stacking on extra dampening gear.

One of the biggest advantages of Hydraulic heads is how forgiving they are to tune. If you’ve got a drum that just won’t sit right no matter what you try, or you’re still learning your way around a drum key, this head takes a lot of the guesswork out of the process.

Evans builds this head with Level 360 technology, which extends a true, flat playing surface all the way around the drum’s edge. The collar is shaped to sit evenly against the bearing edge of the shell, which matters more than most drummers realize:
