The Heil Sound PL2T “Topless” boom arm is built for broadcasters and radio hosts who want a professional on-air look without a tangle of cables in view. Internally balanced springs let you glide the arm into position and hold it there silently, with no drift or sagging, even with a microphone attached.
What sets the PL2T apart is its cable management system. Remove the top and back cover plates and you’ll find a hollow channel running the length of the boom’s spine, ready to route your mic cable straight through. Once the cable is threaded, snap the covers back on and the wiring disappears completely, leaving a tidy, gear-store-quality install on your desk.
The stand supports microphones up to 2.5 lb (1.6 kg) and ships with a standard C-clamp that fits table edges up to 1.5″ thick. If you’d rather not clamp to an edge, Heil also offers a separate flush mount that screws directly into the desktop.
Mic attachment uses the industry-standard 5/8″-27 threaded stem found on Heil mic clips and shock mounts, and the chrome stem locks in place once you’ve dialed in the right height and angle for your microphone.
