Description
The Vic Firth SD12 Swizzle is a clever two-in-one stick from the American Custom series, pairing an SD1 General wood tip on one end with a hard, spun felt ball on the butt end. That combo lets you flip between a standard stick attack and a softer mallet-style tone without ever putting the stick down — a handy trick for players who need to move fast between cymbal textures mid-song.
Every stick in the American Custom line traces back to Vic Firth’s own background as a performer and teacher. He was the first to bring a rounded striking surface into drumstick design, and that same thinking runs through the rest of the Custom lineup, several of which were shaped with jazz drummers in mind.
Each Swizzle is turned from select rock maple, giving it a light feel with plenty of flex and rebound — quick off the drumhead without feeling flimsy. It’s a good match for drummers working in lighter musical styles, or anyone who wants a stick with a bit more body but without extra weight dragging down their playing.
